“youGuide” is a system deployable in a large metropolis such as the sprawling greater Los Angeles and encourages the deliberate or serendipitous discovery and experience of new places in typically unfamiliar or perceptively uninviting territories. The system provides for a view of one’s individualized neighborhood, where imagery and information about places not only describe a physical locale but also reveal the resident’s relationship with it. It is a neutral space with numerous points of views. It offers voices of the residents though ratings, stories and virtual annotations. The system is conceived as a way of connecting people through places. “youGuide” is a platform to peek into one another’s neighborhoods - to wonder and interact.
